“Product Market Fit” meets Hollywood

So, I’m loving my new job. (Understatement.) It’s yet again another field where I’m on a steep learning curve, but raring to make a difference.

Something obvious that jumped out for me right away was the relationship between StoryFit’s value prop to our customers and a traditional tech startup’s. The company literally syncs up the potential for a TV series or feature film script to match the market opportunity. Quite literally: our AI software predicts the FIT.

Here is that same sentiment one of our investors, ff Venture Capital, discussed in this post on LinkedIn:

Did you know that the process of producing a film or TV show is similar to raising capital for a tech startup?

Film studios invest millions of dollars upfront to acquire scripts and shoot pilots or entire movies. They only start to get audience feedback after some content is shot, sinking more and more money into productions before there’s a version of “product market fit” (if you will).

Our portfolio company StoryFit is working with global film studios and streaming platforms to test scripts with advanced artificial intelligence (AI) and natural language processing (NLP).

By testing the scripts BEFORE shooting anything, Storyfit saves production houses millions of dollars in upfront costs.

Hear CEO Monica Landers explain the StoryFit value prop herself:

The software crunches billions of datapoints to produce accurate predictions on how the script will perform based on the story ALONE. At its core, every production lives or dies on the strength of the story and its characters.

In a surprising way, our AI engine humanizes the script by revealing where the story is working well and where it could be improved.

The best result is the outcome everyone on the project wants: a riveting series or film that will be appreciated greatly by the audience.

Incidentally, it’s a fabulous job. Watching movies is the best part.

StoryFit Insight Analysts hard at work.
